CIVIL WAR HISTORY & RESEARCH

This page includes research on Captain J. W. Phillips' Light Artillery Co., C.S.A of Tennessee. My gggrandfather fought with this division, and I wanted to learn more about the history and the men that fought side by side. Only a handfull of men from this division filed for a Confederate Pension.

On Apr 12, 1865, Mobile, Alabama was taken by the Federals, and the Confederate forces had evacuated the day before. A letter from Lieutenant L. E. Wright, dated April 22, 1865, said there were only 15 effectives left in the battery.
