Notes for JOHN T. LARKIN:
The Larkin family owned the land at 3rd & Jackson St. in Memphis, TN,
across from St. Joseph's Hospital. They had a large home that was later
converted into a duplex. The address was 182 & 183 Jackson Ave.
By 1942 the land included a restuarant and gas station. The land was sold
around 1943.
1900 Census Shelby Co., TN City of Memphis, John is enumerated with
brother Thomas and sister Annie Larkin Ryan.
OBIT: 04/07/1931 - John T. Larkin, 48, First Ward political worker, died
of a heart attack at 2:25 pm yesterday at his home, 183 Jackson Ave. He
was stricken just an hour before his death.
Mr. Larkin formerly was Captain of Fire Station No. 8, and had served 6
years on the Police Force and was later in charge of the flushing trucks
operated by the city street department. He operated a filling station at
Jackson Ave. & Third St. for six years and for the last five had been
Fire Marshal at the Fisher body plant. He is survived by his widow, Mrs.
Stella Geary Larkin, two sons, John Leonard Larkin and Joseph Larkin,
three daughters, Estelle Larkin, Mrs. Margaret Forbes and Mrs. Catherine
Kenny, two brothers, Thomas and William Larkin and a sister Mrs. Dommick
Zanone.
Mass will be celebrated at St. Brigid's Church at 9 am tomorrow. Burial
will be in Calvary Cemetery.

MRS. MARGARET LARKIN FORBES, 80, of Memphis, retired employee of the old
Lowenstein's Department Store, died Sunday ay Methodist Hospital North after
a long illness. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic
Church with burial in Calvery. Hinds-Smythe Cosmopolitan Funeral Home has charge.
She leaves two daughters, Mrs. Jean Griffin of Munford, Tenn., and Mrs.
Shirley Somers of Memphis; a son, Charles Cassidy of Millington; a sister,

He joined the US Marine Corp. at the age of 16. Finished boot camp and
was discharged when they found out how young he was. He waited a couple
of years and then joined the US Army and became a Paratrooper in the
101st Airborne Division in Fort Campbell, KY. He was devoted to the Army
for 15 years.
Pat was always fun to be around. He always kept a smile on his face and
loved the outdoors. As a child I would spend the night with my cousins
and often we would stay in a tent in the backyard and build a fire,
pretending we were on one of our camping trips over at Bear Creek.
