The Curtis family of Humphreys County, Tennessee is difficult to sort out. From my research and with help from others JOEL CURTIS is somehow tied into the family. Below are wills and records I typed from the copied source images, sent to me from a very kind lady who is working hard on our Curtis family. If you have additional information please contact me.

I have this day settled with BENJAMIN CURTIS Executor of the last will and testament of JOEL CURTIS Desd. and report as follows (to wit)
I find the Executor charged on the Inventory and account of sale with the sum of $ 254.31 1/4

In compliance with the requisition of an act of the General Assembly in such cases made and provided, I have again proceeded to settle with BENJAMIN CURTIS, Executors of the last will and testament of JOEL CURTIS, Decd. and beg leave to report as follows (Viz)
I find in the hands of the Executor on a former settlement the sum of $ 124.72 1/2
I find the Executor entitled to further credit,
MANSFIELD BARNETT - one note
JAMES HOLMES - one note
THOMAS WINN - one note
Paid one proven account for the clerks fees for taking a bond security for his Executorship and entering the release of THOMAS WINN a former security on record. Total $ 32.32 1/4

On motion it is ordered by the court that PATSY CURTIS be appointed Guardian for SALLY CURTIS, MINER CURTIS, NARCISSA CURTIS and JOHN AUSTIN CURTIS miner orphans of JOEL CURTIS decd. and said PATSY CURTIS together with WILLAIM MILLER and JOEL PEARCE his securities thereto appeared in open court and entered into acknowledged their bond in the sum of $ 480.00 conditioned as the law directs.

I have this day settled with PATSEY CURTICE guardian for SALLY CURTICE, MINER CURTICE, NARCISSA CURTICE and JOHN CURTICE minor heirs of JOEL CURTICE decd. and reports as follows, (to wit) Clerks fees for guardian bond and entering appointment record, Guardian attendance, one days attendance making this settlement, for Boarding, clothing and schooling the said minors. Total $ 7.85
I find remaining in the hands of the guardian the sum of $ 46.18 3/4 all of which is respectfully submitted,

I have this day settled with PATSEY CURTICE for the minor heirs at law for JOEL CURTICE decd. and report as follows to wit. I find the guardian charged on a former settlement with the sum of $ 46.18 3/4 interest on the above sum id $ 3.92 1/2. Leaving in the hands of the guardian the sum of $ 46.18 3/4. All of which is respectfully submitted,

State of Tennessee, at County Court begun and held for the County of Humphreys at the courthouse in the Town of Waverly on the first Monday in August, the 5th day in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty four. There being present and presiding the worshipful WHIDBEA WHITE, JOHN T. ALFORD, ELI WHITE, JOSEPH H. LONG, THOMAS LAIN, WILLIAM McCASLAND, JAMES YEATS, JOHN NELSON, URBANE HARRISS, Esqrs, Justices & other.

PATSY CURTICE former guardian of the minor orphans heirs of JOEL CURTICE decd. appeared in open court together with JAMES J. HARRISS and LEMUEL BUCHANNON her securities thereto who entered into and acknowledged their bond in the sum of $ 81.00 conditioned as the law directs, which was examined and received by the court.

PATSY CURTICE former guardian of the minor NORCESSA and JOHN CURTICE minor heirs of JOEL CURTICE decd. this day appeared in open court together with SALATHEAL HONEY his securities thereto and entered into and acknowledged their bond in the sum of $ 40.00 conditioned as the law directs, which bond was examined by the court and received and so certified.

The clerk of this court made a report of a settlement made with PATSEY CURTICE guardian for the minor heirs of JOEL CURTICE decd., which was examined by the court and read and ordered to be recorded.
On motion of PATSEY CURTICE it is ordered by the court that the said PATSEY CURTICE be appointed guardian for the minor heirs of JOEL CURTICE decd. and that said PATSEY CURTICE appeared in open court together with THOMAS her security thereto and entered into acknowledge their bond in the sum of fifty dollars conditioned as the law directs which bond was read and by the court so certified.
Court then adjourned until court in course.
